Internal Rotary Inspection Systeme (IRIS)

Internal Rotary Inspection System (IRIS): Accurate Thickness Measurement for Tubes

IRIS is an ultrasonic inspection technique for tube wall thickness measurement under immersion. It provides precise detection of corrosion, erosion, and wall loss in both ferromagnetic and non-ferromagnetic tubes.

How It Works

Rotating Ultrasonic Beam

Ultrasonic waves are reflected off the tube wall using a rotating mirror inside the probe.

Thickness Measurement

Reflected signals are used to calculate remaining tube thickness accurately.

Defect Detection

Corrosion, erosion, and wall loss are identified based on signal variations.

Key Advantages of IRIS

  • High Accuracy: Provides precise thickness measurements.

  • Reliable Defect Detection: Detects corrosion and erosion efficiently.

  • Versatile: Suitable for ferromagnetic and non-ferromagnetic tubes.

Ideal Applications

  • Heat exchangers

  • Boiler tubes

  • Condenser tubes

  • Industrial systems requiring accurate tube wall assessment
